Who’s behind SmartHomeStudent?
SmartHomeStudent is a blog for anyone living in a student room, studio, or shared flat and wanting it to feel like more than just “a place to sleep”. The goal is simple: help you create a small space that feels warm, practical, and personal, without overspending or over-consuming.
Here, decor is approached like a puzzle: what can be reused, hacked, rearranged, or found secondhand to make your everyday life easier and your room more “you”? You’ll find IKEA tweaks, easy DIYs, clever storage ideas, and sustainable habits that fit a real student budget. The content is designed to help you:
- organise and optimise tiny spaces
- add style and personality with simple, affordable ideas
- decorate in a way that’s more respectful of the planet
Whether you’re moving into your first studio or trying to improve a room you already have, SmartHomeStudent is here to give you concrete ideas, not just Pinterest dreams.
Who’s behind SmartHomeStudent?
Behind this blog, there’s a student who has spent a lot of time staring at four white walls, wondering how to make them feel like home. Studying digital marketing and living in a small space pushed me to think differently about decor: I didn’t have the budget for designer furniture, but I still wanted a place that felt calm, inspiring, and aligned with my eco-conscious side.
Little by little, I started experimenting. Rearranging layouts to fit a desk and a bed in a few square meters. Giving a second life to furniture found on Le Bon Coin or at Emmaüs. Turning boxes, jars, and fabrics into storage or decoration. Mixing what I learn in my studies (about brands, storytelling, visuals) with very concrete student reality: limited time, limited money, limited space.
SmartHomeStudent is the result of all that: a place where I share what I test, what works, what doesn’t, and what I’d recommend to another student in the same situation. It’s both my creative outlet and a way to show that you can build a small, thoughtful, sustainable home right where you are. If that’s what you’re trying to do too, you’re more than welcome here.
